Transformation from Nara Buddhism to Heian Buddhism (Saicho & Kukai) 【奈良仏教から平安仏教へ（最澄と空海）】

From Nara period to Heian period　”奈良時代から平安時代へ”

There was a move to Heian by Emperor Kammu (794), and there was a movement to move the capital to Heiankyo (now Kyoto as the capital).
Japanese Buddhism that flourished around Heian-kyo during the Heian period (794-1185) is called Heian Buddhism.
During the Heian period, Saicho and Kukai developed their respective views of religion.
The “Six denominations of the southern capital” during the Nara era were academic religions.
Saicho and Kukai studied in Tang (China) during the Heian period.
The Buddhism brought back by Saicho and Kukai became the basis of Japanese Buddhism that later spread to people.

桓武天皇による平安遷都(794年)があり、平安京(現在の京都を首都)に都を移す動きがありました。
平安時代(794〜1185年)に平安京を中心に栄えた日本仏教を平安仏教と呼ばれています。
平安時代は、「最澄」と「空海」がそれぞれの思想を展開しました。
奈良時代の南都六宗は学問宗教でしたが、平安時代に唐に渡った最澄と空海が持ち帰った仏教が、その後、民衆に流布される日本の仏教の礎となりました。
